Information Sheet for Online and Telephone Counselling

Online counselling therapy is a way for you to engage in counselling using internet technology.

You have made the decision to have counselling and you have chosen your Counsellor. You can now choose your method of communication.

Video Counselling

I use Microsoft Teams for this method of communication.  I will set up the meeting and email the link to you. Once you click on the link you will follow simple instructions to join the meeting at the agreed time. Your session will last 50 minutes.  We will be able to see each other which means that it has the benefits of face to face counselling (we can see facial expressions and body language) together with the convenience of online sessions (you can be in the comfort of your own home)

Confidentiality

Video counselling takes place within a secure, encrypted environment which offers confidentiality and safety but you will need to be in a private room where you will not be interrupted or overheard for the duration of the session, in order to protect confidentiality at your end.

Telephone Counselling

Although we will not be able to see each other, we will be able to pick up on non-verbal communication such as  tone of voice or pace of speech etc. I will call you at the agreed time with a private telephone number and your session will last 50 minutes.

 Confidentiality

I will ensure confidentiality at my end but, as with video counselling you will need to be in a private room where you will not be interrupted or overheard for the duration of the session in order to protect confidentiality at your end.
