Anxiety / Panic

Feeling anxious in certain situations, such as before a driving test or exam, is perfectly normal, but for some people uneasy feelings such as nervousness, worry or fear will not go away and has a negative impact on their daily life.  

 

Addiction

Addiction is a disease. It causes people suffering from addiction to keep using a substance (e.g. alcohol or drugs), or behaving in a certain way (e.g. gambling), even though it may be causing them serious physical, mental, social and occupational problems.  

Anger

It is normal to feel angry sometimes, but for some people feelings of anger can have a negative impact upon how they feel physically or mentally and their behaviour. This may affect their working life and relationships.  

 

Bereavement / Loss / Grief

Bereavement, loss and grief affects everyone differently. When a person loses someone or something significant in their life, they may feel shock, or numbness, extreme sadness, anger, or guilt. They may feel overwhelmed and  believe that they cannot recover. 

Depression / Low Mood

Most people have times in their daily lives when they feel unhappy or down about something, but some people can feel low or sad constantly for a long period of time. They may have mild symptoms, feeling low; or they may have severe symptoms, feeling suicidal. 

 

Low Self-esteem / Lack of Confidence

Self-esteem is a person’s belief about themself. If their self-esteem is poor they may regard them and their life negatively and find it difficult to deal with challenges that arise.  Low self-esteem can be harmful to their mental health; for example, causing anxiety or depression. 

Menopausal Symptoms

A great deal of women will experience menopausal symptoms. Some women will find that their symptoms are very troublesome having a negative impact upon their enjoyment of life e.g. they may feel persistently low or anxious. 

Stress

Feeling stressed sometimes is normal but stress can have a negative impact if it causes symptoms such as persistent worry,  a lack of concentration, forgetfulness, indecisiveness, a feeling of being overwhelmed.
